76-unit Arby’s Franchisee Selects RTIconnect™ Back Office and TimeClock Programs

RTI closes deal with Carisch, Inc., to provide RTIconnect back office and TimeClock software for Arby’s second-largest franchisee.

ATLANTA — Carisch, Inc., a 76-unit Arby’s franchisee headquartered in Wayzata, Minn., has implemented the RTIconnect™ back office system by Restaurant Technology, Inc. (RTI) for its restaurant food, labor, and cash controls. Carisch also simultaneously installed RTI’s new Web-based TimeClock software to handle employee time punches, availability, and schedule requests.

Fred Stauber, president of Carisch, said, “Our reason for change was the affordability, ease of use, and expected margin improvement of store level controllable expenses.” Carisch operates Arby’s restaurants in eight states, and was able to roll out RTIconnect to all of their 76 locations in just under five weeks. Timing was critical, as Carisch replaced another back office system, and also replaced interfaces to their corporate accounting, human resources, and payroll. They now rely exclusively on RTIconnect for their restaurant operational data.

“The transition to RTI went incredibly smooth,” said Mark Gregory, CFO for Carisch. “Carisch and RTI had weekly meetings during the transition and all the milestones were met ahead of schedule.” Mr. Stauber added, “The depth of knowledge and follow through by the RTI team was first class.”

RTIconnect retrieves sales data from Carisch’s existing Panasonic™ 7000 and 7500 POS systems. Then using that data, it helps the restaurant managers control food and paper costs, create cost-effective schedules, and manage cash receipts and tills. RTIconnect provides both a store-level toolset for the restaurant managers and enterprise reporting/drill-down capabilities for the corporate office.

To complete the transition from Carisch’s prior back office provider, RTI developed a new Web-based TimeClock program that sends time punches for all stores into the central RTIconnect database. A huge benefit to the restaurants is that they can skip the laborious tasks of maintaining employees on a separate POS or time clock device.

SMART Back Office

RTIconnect was built using Microsoftâ .NET, a technology to create Smart Client software. This allows the software to run like a Windows program at the restaurant (making it easy for store managers to learn and use), while taking advantage of the Internet to move data effortlessly between the restaurant, corporate office, and RTI’s Data Center. RTIconnect’s technology foundation provides improved reliability, stronger security, and faster performance than conventional web-based software applications.

The cost-effective RTIconnect back office is offered as a subscription for $99 per store monthly, with no contract commitment, or as a licensed software application for larger organizations. RTIconnect is currently used in more than 1,900 quick-service and fast-casual restaurants across North America.
